This includes our Test and Tag service, where we use a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT) to quickly and efficiently detect any problems with electrical appliances in the industrial and commercial workplace.
Test and Tag is a process that assesses the safety of portable electrical devices located on commercial and industrial properties. The process is usually carried out in two parts: the first part involves looking over the electrical appliance for any visible damage, while the second part involves inspecting it with the Portable Appliance Tester.
Once the appliance has been thoroughly tested and cleared for use, it is tagged. The tag needs to be labelled with the date it was tested, the next inspection date and the name of who carried out the inspection.
The AS/NZS 3760 is the Australian and New Zealand standard that provides the guidelines and regulations for testing and tagging. It sets out recommendations for who can test and tag and testing intervals for each industry.
Australian businesses are required to undertake regular test and tag inspections as part of their workplace safety obligations. Every employer and employee has the right to feel safe in their work environment.
